Do you think I’m sexy?

I thought that would grab your attention! Obviously I’m not referring to myself, but to my beloved Ingres. Few people think of Ingres as a “sexy” technology today, but that’s changing, and we are maturing into a timeless beauty with brains to burn! I’d love to hear what you think makes Ingres sexy, or what would make Ingres a bombshell.
No doubt you saw the recent press release announcing the expansion of our service delivery capabilities through our acquisition of Luminary Solutions in the UK and MIS in Australia.
I’ve known a number of the Luminary guys for years and if you’ve worked with them then I’m sure that you’ll agree that they’re the type of people that you can do business with on a handshake and that they have a deep understanding of a wide variety of application development and infrastructure technologies. I’m looking forward to getting to know the MIS folks when I finally get to visit Australia.
This week I participated in a series of meetings with members of our professional services leadership including my friends from Leeds. It was fascinating to see the tools that the services teams have in their arsenals, the tried and tested methodologies that they’ve developed, the successes they’ve had in the past and the plans that we are building for the future. To see examples of traditional fat client-server environments built with ABF and Vision transformed into cutting edge service oriented architectures (SOA) was exhilarating for me.
