The Terrible Twos

It’s hard to believe it, but Ingres Corporation is two years old today! I guess we’re proving the adage that time flies when you’re having fun! So, what’s so terrible about Ingres as a two year old? Anyone who has spent time with a two year old will know that their favorite question is “why?” and that’s a question that you’re going to hear a lot from Ingres over the next twelve months.
Why continue to pay exorbitant license fees for software features you’ll never use?
Why are your software license fees being spent on the monopolization of the software market rather than innovation?
Why are you paying for the right to upgrade your database in the future?
Why surrender a large part of your revenue stream to a database “partner” who does nothing but show up to pick up his check?
Why sacrifice open standards for open source?
Why compromise when choosing an open source database?
Why?
